Lessons and Policies
Above Piano Lessons Studio serves students from ages 4 to adult in the Clearview, Bothell, Lynnwood, Everett, Mill Creek, Woodinville, Kenmore and Kirkland area.
The studio offers a free consultation to determine student's level and needs. The flat monthly tuition includes two recitals per year.
I offer both online and in-person teaching, depending on your or your child's needs.
For the best online learning experience
- Have all your materials such as a pencil, last notes/assignment, sheet music, and metronome ready.
- Prepare your room to be as well lit, quiet and distraction-free as possible.
- Adjust your webcam or mobile device so that your piano is visible from the side, so I can see your hands position and correct it if needed, with your speakers turned to a reasonable volume.
Platforms:
- Facetime
- Skype
I will also teach online for emergency situations, like snow days or other situation, when it is not safe to travel to Above Piano Lessons Studio.
Lessons
I provide both 45 minute and 60 minute lessons.
Fees, Tuition and Payment
Monthly tuition is non-refundable and due on or before the first lesson of each calendar month. You can pay with check or cash. New student non-refundable registration fee is $50.00 (this fee covers time spent preparing a repertoire for a new student). A $5 late fee (per week) will be added if monthly tuition delayed. Please make checks payable to: Above Piano Lessons Studio. Any returned checks will be charged a $15 service fee.
Time slots and makeup lessons
Tuition per month is based on 48 lessons per year; not on attendance but a time slot reserved. There are normally 4 lessons per month. In a month of 5 lessons please consider this your makeup lesson. From September 1st of this year to September 1st on the following year there will be 4 months for each student with one extra lesson, which are 4 extra lessons throughout the year. Please consider 2 of those extra lessons makeups for my 2 weeks vacation (to be announced) and the rest 2 extra lessons for your possible vacation/holidays or illness/emergencies. PLEASE NOTE that tuition is there to guarantee your slot is available throughout the year. Please understand if you go on vacation that the SAME MONTHLY FLAT TUITION is still charged to hold your spot.
Snow days – if you can’t commute lessons will be provided via any online platform at your normal time slot.
Holidays – I do teach on Monday holidays. No lessons on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and 4th of July.
If I need to reschedule lessons due to sickness or other events I will do make ups and it’s the only time I do it.
Lessons
Please be on time because I cannot extend your lesson if you are late. Prompt pickup after the lesson is appreciated. Bring your music books and notebook. The students should make sure they clean their hands before the lesson. Keep the finger nails neat and short. Parents can stay during the lessons but are not required to.
Class Materials
Students/parents are expected to purchase books and music sheets. From time to time I may provide copies of them. For your convenience you can drop used music books for purchase by another student or buy used book (both for half price).
Practicing
Practice between lessons is a regular basis and essential to the student's growth and successful development.
Recitals
Throughout the year studio recitals are an exciting opportunity for students to build self confidence and present their new skills in a performance setting. Students enjoy show casing their talents to family members and other students. You will be provided with more information as recitals are planned.
Other Performances
As an active member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association, I can provide you the opportunity to participate in various festivals, competitions and adjudications.
